Surprise! Soap

Today I made surprise soap for my nice and nephew, kandipants21's kids Gwynie and Brady! I took pics so I could do a fun little step-by-step entry and because lezlishae is a wicked awesome sister and she upgraded my flickr account to pro (she is made of win!) and I can have tons of album and pictures, so... before you click lemme tell ya, it's a little photo heavy.

Step 1:

Gather supplies for surprise soap. Here I have: Lip gloss for Gwynie, small toy car for Brady, soap mold, glycerin soap, soap dye, soap scent, microwave safe container, and plastic wrap.

Step 2:

Wrap the surprise objects very well in plastic wrap so the soap does not harm the toy.

Step 3:

Cut the soap into small pieces to make melting thorough and quick. Microwave in 20 second increments. It will not take long to thoroughly melt if cut into uniform pieces. When melted, add scent and dye; stir lightly to prevent bubbles (or try at least!)

Step 4:

Fill the soap mold about 1/3 of the way. Let set for about 10 minutes or until medium firm. Lightly press the surprise object into the slightly firm soap.

Step 5:

Finish filling the soap and let it set up very well, at least 30 minutes depending on the size of the mold.

Step 6:

If you have any left over soap fill another mold so there is little to no waste!

Step 7:

When they are firm, carefully remove them from the mold and bag them immediately.

Since I've been in Florida I've been trying out a bunch of new crafts. So far I've tried out soap making and Shae taught me how to cross stitch (not really taught me how, but she said "cross stitch, now!" and I just had to learn before she stabbed me in the face). first_corn people will like the cross stitch!

Oh, I am so happy! Josh got a new job. He was tried of waiting around for his dad to call him back to work (he has been on unemployment for two months!!) and he had an interview at ESAM today. They make wires and boards and stuff for electronics. He got the job right away and tomorrow he has a physical and then he starts work on Wednesday. I am a little frustrated because I have been looking for work for almost a month and he got hired on his first attempt. Oh well, I am happy for him. Now he gets to work inside and have normal breaks and a lunch. Before he would be lucky to be able to take a few minutes and shovel some food in his mouth but now he will have a regular 30 minute lunch and two 10 minute breaks. So, he is happy about that. Also, during the winter is gets fricking cold and the summer is always hot and dry so a definite plus for heated and air conditioned buildings!! And a big YEAH!! for Terminus. For the last month I have been worried about not being able to go but since we are getting the $800 check in May I am able to make plans for it. So, EEEEEE!!!! Excitement! So, what are the plans lezlishae and kandipants21??

I have been so lazy and then I got sick! I have been sick with the worst cold I've gotten in a long time. You know how you cough and cough and you tense up every muscle in your body? Yeah, it is so much frickin fun! Yesterday was the worst and every part of my body ached! I am really glad I never though to commit to Blog365. It would have been over before the year started! So I am currently looking for a new job because my boss is crazy. He doesn't even know who I am! What a psycho! Anyway, I want something challenging because I have gotten really lazy working from home and I never even leave the house anymore unless I am paying bills or shopping. So, something to drag me out of bed early would really do the trick. So, I am sitting here trying with all my might to come up with something interesting to say but all I can think about is Terminus. I am pretty excited, especially to see kandipants21 and lezlishae. Also, since it is my first convention I don't really know what to expect. Also, will someone tell me about the dueling... is anyone doing this? I read that I have to sign up at the time of registration to participate so should I do this? Is anyone else excited?

Ok, so an actual post about what I am doing in my life rather than the typical spam posts of late. Ok, so work is a little slow right now. I had an overload of assignments and as soon as I finished there was a journalistic catastrophe when we lost our December cover story. So, I had to throw together a last minuter article about the Rogue Winterfest 2007 and make it sound like we were there. Ugh, how cheesy. So, right now I am supposed to be working doing two new articles... too bad I didn't get them assigned before the end of the pay period. I think Ron planned it like that. Anyway, the excitement of Christmas is wearing off a little bit. I think it is taking too long or I started too early. I am a little burned out and kinda sick of being so damn cheery and jolly. Ugh, even worse now! But I have been having a minor financial crisis recently (as most of us have!) due in large part to only getting paid once a month. And Josh just got laid off, so yeah, unemployment will only cover 80% of his normal wages and we are used to riding on the over time, so yeah... this is going to be fun! But at least today I paid my cell phone bill and the insurance. The insurance was like, 5 days late and the lady actually had our termination papers on her desk when I walked in. And for most people getting insurance suspended for a day would suck but it would be ok. If it would have lapsed then Josh's license would be suspended because of his SR22 and the SR22 would start over. We only have 10 months and 28 days left, so starting over 3 years of outrageous insurance payments was not what I had in mind. But at least it is taken care of so I can breathe a sigh of relief! Anyway, we had people over for dinner and there were 7 of us for taquitos, Spanish rice, refried beans, and a festive-looking chocolate cake with green frosting and red and green sprinkles. I know, I know, I am crazy but it was good and everyone liked it. I just wish I would not try so hard to please people. Anyway, sorry this is way longer than it was supposed to be! Less than a week until Christmas then the tree goes! No more pine needles clogging up the vacuum! Clean house FTW!
